The Storyteller, The Actress and The Mom

I'm thankful for the imagination of children and, mostly, that I have been tremendously blessed with children, one of whom houses an enormous imagination in that tiny little head!

I have been blessed with children who not only love pretending, imitating and listening to imaginative stories, but also love storytelling. Jackson is well-versed in the art of storytelling. Kennedy is our actress. Jackson is the one always wanting to "write" stories; Kennedy is the child that will pretend to be sleeping when do something she shouldn't (see, actress!). I thought I'd add a little fun to this post. I am including a story that Jackson told and I put it in writing. I also am adding a few pictures of our great actress!

Little Mummy on Halloween

Once upon a time there was a little mummy who lived in a castle. One day he walked outside his door and...

                       IT WAS HALLOWEEN!*

He asked his Mummy**, "Is it Halloween?"
"Yes! It is Halloween! You can go out, it's not scary! Ghosts aren't scary and cats aren't scary," said Mummy.
"Okay," and he left.

On the his way, the little mummy was chased by a skeleton! The mummy looked at the skeleton and the skeleton said, "Boo!"*** Then, he fell in a hole with ghosts, which made the skeleton go away. The ghosts put the mummy in the dungeon. the little mummy then found himself in a dungeon on a...

                           PIRATE SHIP!

The ship sailed away on the water. Spiderman came and saved the mummy from the pirate skeleton. Then, Spiderman...

BECAME A PIRATE SKELETON! OH, NO!

The ship kept sailing until it got back to the castle. The mummy was scared, but when he opened the door...

EVERYONE YELLED, "TRICK-OR-TREAT! COME IN TO YOUR PARTY!

The skeletons came, so did the ghosts and Santa Claus****. Everyone was NOT wearing necklaces and put on glasses. They then went outside to turn into werewolves for a werewolf party. then, the bats came and so did the monsters!

All the ghosts, skeletons, Spidermans, pirates, werewolves, monsters and mummies played games. Everyone had so much fun! The party ended, but they will have many more.

                             THE END!!

*The words in bold and all caps are to add the emphasis that Jackson placed on them. Trust me, there was A LOT of emphasis.
**Yeah, that was his joke, with he thought was hilarious!
***The original story said, "the mummy looked at the skeleton and said, "Boo!" Jackson likes to switch this line in and out.
****The source of the obsession... Forget Christmas drift, we make sure that Santa is a part of each holiday/celebration/Presidential election, etc.

Kennedy's pictures:

The, "I-can't-possibly-hear-you-telling-me-to-put-my-feet-down-seeing-as-to-how-I'm-sleeping," face. ACTRESS!

The, "I-don't-know-what-just-happened-but-surely-you-don't-think-I-did-this-because-a-face-this-cute-can't-do-anything-wrong!" face.  ACTRESS!

Take away lesson: Always be creative enough to figure out what they're are going to try next and be imaginative enough to live in the moment with them. Kids are only kids for a short while and it is our job to enjoy them as they are. Whatever trouble they get into, whatever stories they make up, whatever thread of patience they are plucking, in your darkest moment and on their worst day, enjoy them!
